Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2017-2024, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2016

(these vines were replanted in 1986 after the killer frost the previous winter; 50% new oak): More saturated red than the Jeunes Rois. Deeper but distinctly oakier on the nose, with the wine's fruity perfume in the background. Pliant and silky-smooth in the mouth but a bit stunted by the recent bottling. Displays an intriguing earthy quality and finishes spicy and firm, with dusty tannins.

Punteggio 89-91/100 · Da bere 2017-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Champeaux comes from vines planted in 1986. There are two barrels this year, one new and the other used. It has a broody, earthy bouquet, perhaps a little herbaceous compared to Pierre Duroché's other 2014s, but nicely detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, not the more complex Champeaux that you will find, but texturally it is very harmonious and seems to caress the finish. This should drink nicely over the next decade.

Domaine Duroche

Domaine Duroché has, under Pierre Duroché, become one of the most sought-out and respected wine domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines are delicate and detailed, yet with old-vine intensity, a clear sense of place and style – and it’s easy to see why they’ve rapidly become so in-demand.
