Bright medium red. Deep, brooding aromas of medicinal black cherry, cassis and spices complicated by notes of menthol and bitter chocolate. Suave, smooth and lightly saline, with brisk acidity framing the nicely concentrated dark berry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors. Plenty of tannins and a slightly peppery finish call for some patience.

Quite tight and a bit tart on the palate, without the stuffing to support its serious tannins. The palate has a vitamin-like purity, fine tannin and a very sleek and seductive finish. This is very composed but again, I would have preferred the new oak to be dialed down a notch.
