Punteggio 90-93/100 · FINE+RARE

More depth still some stuffing. Sweet fruit and a completeness in the mouth. This is all here, these are all very nicely made, as you would expect. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2015.

Tasted blind. Lifted black fruit on the nose and then pinched tannins on the end. Not very appetising. (JR)

The 2014 Moulin St Georges has a surprisingly Burgundy-like bouquet with ample red cherry and wild strawberry scents on the nose, hints of persimmon, then later warm gravel. I appreciate the definition here, although it is tightly wound at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit, what you might describe as a straightlaced Moulin St Georges that keeps its cards close to its chest. Give this two or three years in bottle. I would like to see this Saint Emilion just loosen its tie a bit.

The 2014 Moulin Saint-Georges is plump, succulent wine to drink now and over the next few years. Dark cherry, plum, tobacco and spice meld together in this pliant, open-knit Saint-Émilion. Like many of the 2014s in the Vauthier family's range, the Moulin Saint-Georges comes across as bit closed and less expressive than it was from barrel.
