Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2024-2031, Neal Martin, Mar 2024

The 2014 Rauzan Gassies has a respectable nose with a mixture of red and black fruit, sage and leather. It's a little Rhône-like in style as it becomes animally with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with simple but fresh red fruit, orange rind and sage. Quite finessed towards the finish, this Rauzan Gassies is showing much better than expected. A "useful" Margaux. Tasted non-blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.5% Petit Verdot . Tasted blind. Sweet, transparent nose. Some saltiness. Fairly light and fresh. Quite appetising but not for those who seek massive depth. (JR)

Tasted blind. Toasty, meaty nose but a bit earthbound rather than ethereal. Chunky and a bit ungainly. (JR)

Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2018-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Rauzan-Gassies has a light grassy bouquet, plenty of undergrowth aromas as usual, though missing the fruité of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin on the entry, a little angular in the mouth with some hardness on the finish. It is a frustrating wine, grasping for quality but not quite getting there. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
