Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2023-2040, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2018

57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot . Tasted blind. Fairly light crimson. Particularly aromatic. Already quite evolved. Some bloody elements to this. Rather wild and distinctive. Very long and polished in terms of texture. Builds towards the finish. (JR)

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2020-2034, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Desmirail is a Margaux that I tasted last year. Like then, I feel that this is holding back on the nose, perchance biding its time, though I admire the tightly wound brambly red fruit that feels nicely defined. It just needs to "rev its motors" a little. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, an abiding sense of symmetry and precision that comes through on the finish. I expect it will gain more vigor with a couple of years in bottle.

The 2014 Desmirail is bold, juicy and tasty. Although not especially finessed, this hearty, rustic Margaux will drink well with minimal cellaring. Dark cherry, savory herbs, leather and tobacco are some of the signatures. Today, the tannins are a bit coarse, especially relative to how the wine showed en primeur .
