More to this than the Pagodes. Some pepper, some fruit and some depth. Some latent character. In the mouth this has weight and muscle and more terroir showing through than in recent vintages. This has structure and a pleasingly savoury finish. Rather good and should get better. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2015.

The 2014 Cos d'Estournel has a wonderful bouquet. Compared directly with Montrose, there is a notch more exuberance and precision, with layers of rich but delineated plummy black fruit laced with rose petals and dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. There's a lovely depth of fruit and a sense of symmetry plus sapidity that compels you back for more. Silky texture, this is a Cos d'Estournel that will give a lot of pleasure in the coming years. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet. Fragrantly leafy and cedary. Concentrated, just slightly bitter on the palate. The tannins are firm and really polished. Just let down by that suggestion of bitterness. Might not be so obvious with food? (JH)

Inky plum in colour, this kicks off with cloves, turmeric, black pepper and graphite, this is still tight and not yet fully opened, I suggest a long carafe if approaching any time soon. The tannic architecture is on full display, and the concentration of ripe black fruits suggests long ageing ahead.
