Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2036, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Feb 2022

Majoring on rich dark chocolate, espresso, cocoa bean, cassis, this is full of signature Bouscaut gourmet flavours while displaying balance and freshness as it approaches eight years old. Pessac-Léognan was one of the most successful appellations in the 2014 vintage, and it comes through with a strong wine full of personality. 40% new oak, harvest September 30 to October 21.

The 2014 Bouscaut has a perfumed blackberry and raspberry bouquet laced with cedar, graphite and mint aromas. I admire the definition and intensity here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is well balanced, somewhat approachable and yet there is clearly good backbone to this Pessac-Léognan and the finish feels long and satisfying. It is a beautifully crafted wine. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2017-2022, Jancis Robinson MW, Feb 2018

Tasted blind. Deep pink straw colour. Rich, sweetish, very perfumed. Big and bold and exotic with notes of liqueur and kumquat. Long and a little alcoholic and spicy. Very slightly oily. But quite a bit of acid on the end. (JR)

The 2014 Bouscaut has a pure, feminine, floral bouquet that is charming, the oak neatly integrated with satisfying fruit intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe red berry fruit, the oak quite present but in sync with the fruit profile whilst the finish has splendid harmony and persistence. Probably earlier drinking that some of its peers, nevertheless this is a delicious Pessac-Leognan that might surprise and evolve well in bottle. This comes recommended.
