Dark with a vibrant colour. Sweet fresh fruit on the nose with a touch of bubblegum. This follows in the mouth with sweet and elegant Margaux fruit. Lacks the bounce that a great vintage would have but impressive nonetheless. Joss Fowler, FINE+RARE, April 2015.

The 2014 Alter Ego de Palmer initially seems a little volatile on the nose. However, returning to my glass after 15 minutes, this seems to dissipate, revealing attractive, slightly exotic red fruit. The sweet palate shows plush, juicy red fruit laced with black pepper and sage. It is outgoing in style with a precocious (for the vintage) finish. For those who fancy a bit of hedonism. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Deeply coloured. A bit raisiny and volatile on the nose. (No second bottle available.) The fruit seems rather stewed so the tannins are drying on the finish. Poor/faulty bottle? (JH)
52% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot. First vintage at Palmer that was 100% biodynamically farmed. Much less overt than the 2017, perhaps this is in a dumb phase? Grainy and bitter in style. Paysan. (RH)
