The 2013 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a tightly wound rose-petal bouquet that is nicely defined with touches of forest floor developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, more masculine than other Echézeaux ‘13s that I have encountered from barrel with good backbone. Stern, maybe a bit aloof, this constitutes a "serious" grand cru that just needs to let its hair down (a bit).

Dark crimson. Juicy and dense with real vivacity and rigour. Black cherries and masses of fruit. Just falls away slightly suddenly. Ambitious and admirable. (JR)
