Punteggio 93-95/100 · Da bere 2017-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2015

The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin les Corbeaux Vielles Vignes also sees around 30% new oak like the village cru. It has a feminine, astonishingly pure, supremely well- delineated bouquet that is bewitching: blackberry, fresh strawberry, cold limestone and a touch of iris. The palate displays brilliant balance and a wondrous sense of tension and vigour – a wine that shimmers in the glass with palpable energy on the finish. This Corbeaux is just exquisite and exudes effortless charm.

Bright, deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of medicinal black cherry and smoke. Thick and serious in the mouth, in a distinctly masculine style, showing little in the way of early sweetness. But this still boasts a voluptuous texture and its big tannins are ripe and not at all austere. Finishes with a wild gamey nuance and terrific palate-staining length.

Good deep red with ruby highlights. Musky aroma of huckleberry. Big, rich and sappy but taut and backward in the mouth, in a distinctly masculine style. Very saline, soil-driven premier cru with a broad, horizontal, classically dry finish, serious tannins and excellent subtle length. "This is from clay soil and is always slow to evolve," notes Bachelet. Seems the least evolved of these young 2012s today, and is likely to age well.

The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux shows the clear influence of this cold micro-climate in its firm tannins and overall structure. Incense, orange peel and white pepper all add an exotic flair to a wine built on a core of intense blue/blackish fruit. The 2012 is wonderfully pointed and nuanced throughout. A few years in bottle will help, but the wine's personality is likely to remain a bit on the wilder side of things.
