Very ripe, high-toned aromas of candied red fruits and spices. Rich, ripe flavors of strawberry, raspberry, mocha and underbrush show a slightly syrupy quality but are lifted by a touch of minerality. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins.

Very distinctive fruit – the house style is so evident! Both confected (like cough sweets) and herbal. Really quite odd, and while I find the flavours quite attractive in themselves, it is more like New World fruit than burgundy. Very firm tannins. (RH)
(6 barrels made, vs. a normal 15; entirely destemmed): Sweet candied red fruits and licorice on the nose. On the palate, an intense sour cherry quality is enlivened by tangy acidity and complicated by rust and earth nuances. Spicy, bright, concentrated village wine with a chewy, gripping finish that's still a tad rough.
A gorgeous village-level wine, the 2012 Morey St. Denis graces the palate with black cherries, plums, tobacco, anise and spices. The 2012 is wonderfully open and expressive, with layers of fruit that build in the glass and gorgeous beams of supporting acidity. The Morey is a terrific wine in its class.
