Really lovely perfume here – spice and jasmine. And despite a fair bit of structure, that perfume sings in the mouth too. Exquisite, refined stuff. (AH)

Good medium-deep red. Tangy, expressive aromas of strawberry, raspberry and red cherry complemented by a note of licorice. Sappy and dense, showing an intriguing saline nuance to its intense red berry flavors. Velvety but not thick, this fine-grained premier cru finishes with chewy, ripe tannins and lovely length. An excellent showing today.
One of Ghislaine Barthod’s tiniest productions, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Gruenchers has a complex undergrowth and forest floor-scented bouquet that seems to draw you in. The aromatics are detailed and gain intensity in the glass. The palate is finely balanced with exquisite delineation. This premier cru possesses focus and tension with a sense of energy and poise on the finish. It is one of the best wines from the domaine this year...‘tis a pity there is so little of it!
