Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2021-2032, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2016

(true Charmes): Good medium red. Sexy, soil-inflected perfume of cherry, redcurrant, mocha, black pepper, underbrush, cinnamon and dried flowers. Sweet and plush on the palate but with a firm spine of acidity giving shape and thrust to the intense flavors of red fruits, sous-bois and dried flowers. Classic Charmes, offering a lovely balance of salinity and red fruits. Finishes vibrant, precise and long, with sneaky energy extending the fruit and leaving the mouth fresh and perfumed.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2019-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2015

The 2013 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well-defined, very backward nose that clearly needs three or four years to open up. It is broody–the kind of aromatics that stalk you before inviting you in. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, brittle tannin. Here we find the energy of the vintage with a fine line of acidity and hints of blood orange merging with the red berry fruit toward the finish that fans out nicely. Give this four or five years in bottle because there is great potential here.

Mid crimson. Savoury, spiced dark fruit then unexpectedly juicy and red fruited on the palate. Mouthwatering finish. Elegant rather than intense. Persistent. (JH)
