Note di degustazione
( négociant wine; tasted from vat): Good bright, deep red. Raspberry liqueur on the nose, with a slightly musky quality. Intensely flavored and sappy, showing lovely vinosity and minerality to its pomegranate fruit flavor. More upright and serious than the basic village Fixin, finishing with a firm spine of building tannins and good length.

Racked three weeks prior to my visit, the 2013 Fixin 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre has a pretty blueberry and black cherry bouquet that is more like a Marsannay than a Fixin. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins and the acidity is nicely controlled here. There is an agreeable aftertaste that lingers: maraschino cherries with a touch of cracked black pepper. This should drink well over the next four or five years.
