Note di degustazione
Still looking youthful! Mid ruby with orange tinges. Fabulous complex nose with plenty of concentration and depth and a few signs of ageing. Savoury notes and just the beginning of tar, tobacco and a suggestion of Moroccan leather. Great freshness and lift on the palate and still this essence of youthfulness and vibrancy. Fine, coating tannins underneath. (WS)

The 1985 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is another wine that is stunning today. A medium faded red, it opens with an alluring, ethereal nose followed by notes of tobacco, leather, stewed fruits and minerals. Much of the fruit has faded, yet this delicate, medium-bodied wine displays enough supporting structure and freshness to drink well for another ten years although it is a joy to drink right now.
Informazioni sul produttore

Emidio Pepe is a star of the Abruzzo region and one of Italy’s most famous names. Worshipped by natural-wine lovers for its low-intervention approach, this estate makes category-defying, age-worthy examples of Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Cerasolo d’Abruzzo, as well as Pecorino Colli Aprutini.
