Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2017-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2016

The 2013 La Croix de Beaucaillou has a really quite lovely nose even if you ignore that this is a second wine, so much so that you might not nail this as a 2013: ebullient red berry fruit with mint and cassis. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, just a touch of dryness towards the finish but otherwise a commendable Croix de Beaucaillou.

52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. 60% new oak. Baked black fruit on the nose. Rather perfumed on the nose – more Margaux than Margaux, in this year! The fruit has something quite compelling about it on the mid palate – really fine tannins and lovely length. Delicious savoury quality on the finish – loads of personality here. (RH)

Stone fruits, plums, black cherries and cassis are some of the notes that meld together in the 2013 Croix de Beaucaillou. The 2013 impresses for its centeredness, poise and length, not to mention its terrific overall balance. A richly textured, juicy finish rounds things out in style. This is a very pretty, impeccably balanced wine from Bruno Borie.

The 2013 Croix du Beaucaillou is composed of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot. Surprisingly fruity, round and ripe, one could almost drink it now, which is not a bad thing in a vintage such as 2013. This lightly tannic, juicy, fruit-forward red can be enjoyed during its first 6-8 years of life. ||There is no doubting the remarkable effort Bruno Borie has made at this gorgeous estate that frequently behaves like a first-growth. In 2013, the harvest took place between September 26 and October 9, with less than 50% of the crop going into the grand vin. Wine Advocate.August, 2014
