Punteggio 84/100 · Da bere 2023-2028, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 2013 Le Dragon de Quintus has a light nose with brambly black fruit, forest floor and touches of black truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with soft red fruit. It's a little hollow and missing some grip, though the finish has satisfying purity. Just a bit ordinary. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting.

Pale ruby red in colour, smoke and marzipan, undergrowth, tobacco leaf, a murmur of autumnal fruit but not really enough to get hold of at this point. I would drink this up over the next few years.

Tasted blind. Mid to light garnet. Scented with fruit and oak sweetness. A little leafy. Rather drying on the palate but reasonably gently handled. (JH)

The 2013 Le Dragon de Quintus, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, has a light, cranberry and strawberry-scented bouquet that feels a little one-dimensional compared to recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a keen line of acidity and moderate depth. Approachable now with agreeable tension on the finish, perhaps I was a little mean towards this deuxième vin out of barrel. It is rather short but it should give some drinking pleasure over the next 2-3 years.
