This property, which appears incapable of doing anything wrong, continues to over-perform, producing delicious Merlot-dominated wines loaded with fruit and purity. The plump, enticing 2013 stands out as one of the top wines of the Right Bank and the Fronsac appellation. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by abundant notes of raspberry and black cherry fruit, medium body, noticeable but well-integrated acidity and a fine finish. It should drink well for 5-7 years.

The 2013 La Vieille Cure is endowed with gorgeous depth, volume and texture, although the aromatics lack a bit of definition today. Dark stone fruits, violets, smoke, camphor, licorice and spices inform the intense, structured finish in this attractive red. There is plenty of potential here, especially if the wine finds a bit more focus. Tasted two times.
