Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2023-2030, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 2013 Figeac has more fruit than the Canon, with blackberry and wild strawberry aromas. It's straightforward and maybe just missing the expressive Cabernet component. The palate is medium-bodied with a chewy entry, quite pastille-like with blackcurrant and a touch of blueberry, though it feels stolid and a bit short on the finish. Yet still one of the better Right Banks this vintage. Tasted at Bordeaux Index's 10-Year On tasting.

Blackish crimson. Some savour here on the nose. I'd want to drink it. It's certainly not the fruitiest claret but it seems well balanced even if the tannin pokes in towards the end. This wine has a future! (JR)

Tasted blind. Lively crimson. Light but lightly saline nose. More interesting than most. Bone dry and without much ripeness or juice but the texture is fine. Dry, inky finish. To be drunk with food. Just a little spindly. Ch Cheval Blanc? (JR)

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Garnet hue. Quite impressive for the vintage. Lots of Cabernet Sauvignon so earthy, dark-fruit aromatics with a liquorice (oak) edge. Adequate rather than substantial fruit and structurally a fair amount of tannin. Touch dry on the finish. Difficult to project the future but its longevity could surprise. (JL)
