Delicate, subtle, charming, with smoked earth, campfire, rose bud, leather, gentle red fruit profile, high acidity on the finish that isn't aggressive, but certainly suggests drinking soon, not one to cellar. 40% new oak for ageing, Eric Boissenot consultant.

Tasted blind. Deep garnet. Attractive aroma with some leafiness but not extreme. Not a huge amount of depth yet the tannins are relatively silky. (JH)
The 2013 Cantemerle has an austere, tobacco-tinged, tertiary bouquet that feels hollow. The palate is raw at the moment and the tannins abrasive with a tough, rather green finish. I will seek to re-taste this because even in a difficult vintage like this, Cantemerle ought to be better.
