The 2013 Belgrave has a light, rather stemmy/green nose that is missing the vigor of recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with a sour entry, bitter in the mouth with a sharp, dry finish. I find it difficult to find many redeeming features in what is usually a very upstanding Haut-Médoc and I put that down to the difficult growing season.

Smoke with dark chocolate and savoury blackcurrant fruit. Soft and balanced on the palate. Solid and straightforward in style with an easy, unchallenging flavour. (RH)
Rich cassis and sweet oak spice. Fine but very firm tannins. Attractive smoked-meat character. Good, solid stuff. (RH)
