Good medium red-ruby. Classic Gevrey aromas of black raspberry and game, with a light peppery nuance. Supple and pure; riper and more layered than the CNV. Nicely concentrated, persistent wine with well-integrated acidity and a juicy finish.

The recent bottling has caused the nose to become relatively reticent compared to the prior wines though glimpses of the beautifully complex, elegant, refined and pure red pinot and black cherry fruit aromas are visible. The sweet, supple and forward flavors possess notably good length and near perfect balance and the underlying structure on the linear and impressively well delineated finish suggests that this will improve for up to a decade, perhaps slightly longer. (like the above, this is aging in about 25% new oak) Good dark red. Very ripe but slightly unforthcoming aromas of blackberry, licorice and spices. Fatter and oakier than the Cote de Nuits-Villages, but also a bit dry, with pepper and herbal notes. A rather austere village wine, finishing with some tarry oak. This will need at least a couple years of bottle aging. Fruit from seven parcels goes into this blend, with the average age of vines close to 70.
Very fine and gentle and well balanced. Smooth and fine. Sleek. Very nicely balanced. Quite rich, but retrained. (JR)
