Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2018-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Echézeaux Grand Cru from Domaine François Lamarche offers brambly red berry fruit on the nose, a little rustic but the oak is nicely integrated with a subtle marine influence that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, not the most complex grand cru on the block, yet there is a sense of nonchalance and joie-de-vivre thanks to the freshness and tension bestowed on the finish. I would have just preferred the presence and substance of Etienne Grivot's Echézeaux 2012, nevertheless, I would still give it two or three years in bottle.

A relatively high-toned nose displays notes of cranberry along with the more typical aromas of various red berries and spices. There is plenty of mid-palate density to the generously proportioned flavors that possess good richness and fine length on the dusty finish. This appears very promising though note that it will require at least 6 to 8 years of cellar time before it will be approachable. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2024+
