Note di degustazione
Tar, smoke, licorice and incense are some of the many notes that burst from the 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin. A rich, exuberant wine, the 1er is beautifully layered from start to finish. White pepper and cloves add an exotic upper register to the rich, dark blue/purplish fruit in an intense, palate-staining Gevrey bursting with personality. This is an utterly impeccable wine from Bernard Dugat. The 1er Cru is a blend of fruit from Fontenys, Corbeaux and Perrieres. The 2011 was done with 67% whole clusters and aged in 100% new French oak.

(a blend of Fontenys, Corbeaux and Perrieres; 75% vendange entier): Deep ruby-red. Explosive aromas of black fruits, sweet spices, smoky minerality and violet. Lush, dense and sweet; really packed with fresh dark fruit. Finishes with sweet, horizontal tannins and excellent balance and length. A terrific showing for this wine, which shows the creaminess of the year over a solid underlying structure.
Fonteny, Corbeaux, Perrières. 60% whole bunch, 100% new oak. Quite heady and sumptuous. Exuberant and luscious with a little animal note. Sinewy fine tannins and really fresh and kicks it legs – does the can can. Dry finish but masses of substance. (JR)
