This is noticeably more developed though still very, very, fresh. There is a hint of popcorn toffee on the nose, and the wine is just approaching that rich, Montrachet-like style. Again there is a staggering intensity on top of a laser-like precision. For those that like a touch of maturity this will please now though will most likely keep for another decade.

The 2004 Pavillon Blanc has an exceedingly Loire-like bouquet with impressive vitality. White tea and orange blossom traces emerge with time. The palate is beautifully balanced with Anjou pear and Golden Delicious notes. Fine weight and sour lemon impart tension on the finish. My only quibble is that it is a bit short, but otherwise, a delight. Tasted at the château.
Although this spectacular 2004 tips the scales at an astonishing 14.5% alcohol, it is an elegant white Bordeaux offering notes of honeyed grapefruit, melons, orange rinds, and lemon oil. Medium-bodied, rich, beautifully textured, and pure, it should evolve for 15-20 years.
