Deep bright healthy crimson. Light, sort of casual, devil-may-care nose. Very fruity start. Still quite tight but there is lots here. Quite vivacious and tingly though not nearly ready. Quite chewy on the finish. Lots of fruit just covering up a rather nerve tingling (for now) structure. Well done. This seems to have tightened up quite a bit…? (JR)

(this is Clos de la Marechale juice declassified to village wine; I tasted an early bottling of this wine) Medium red. Pure but subdued aromas of blackberry and violet. Supple, clean and round, with peppery, upfront flavors of black fruits and spices. Finishes with slightly dusty, drying tannins. This will provide early drinking.
Cask Sample. Very convincingly etched Burgundian nose. Superior oak? Solid. Quite pure. No compromises – bone dry, but very interesting undertow. (JR)
