1997 Rust en Vrede Estate Wine

Bright, deep ruby-red. Complex, soil-inflected aromas of red berries, lead pencil, caraway seed, licorice, eucalyptus and deep oak. Dense but tightly wrapped, with strong acidity and the wine oak component currently dominant. Best today on the bright, long, expanding back end, which shows off the wine's excellent structure and grip.
