Punteggio 93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2010

Good full, bright medium red. High-toned, perfumed aromas of black raspberry and coffee. Wonderfully sweet, deep and fresh, with a distinctly aromatic quality to its black raspberry and spice flavors. Best today on the back end, which features suave, sweet tannins and lovely lingering perfume. This cuvee has been elevated to a higher level since 2005. Meo notes that it now includes 10% replanted vines that were selected to give riper fruit. This new component may be adding sugar to the blend and giving the wine a more voluptuous texture.

Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Cros Parantoux. Totally closed nose hints at spicy oak. Then sweeter in the mouth than the Cros Parantoux, with a distinctly opulent texture to the plum and berry flavors. Finishes fine-grained and subtle, if without quite the class of the Cros Parantoux.

Very closed on the nose. Powerful and oaky, too oaky so that the aftertaste is bitter even though there is plenty going on under that oak. Too big and brash. (JH)

A strikingly fresh, ripe and expressive nose combines elegant blue and red pinot fruit, cassis, plum and Asian spice hints before sliding seamlessly into wonderfully pure and transparent medium plus weight flavors underpinned by a firm tannic spine that is itself buffered by seemingly buckets of sap. This is tightly focused today but I estimate that it should come into its prime drinking window in 8 to 10 years. Allen Meadows, Burghound Jan01,2009
