Medium red-ruby. Dark fruits, licorice, mocha and smoke on the nose. Sweet on entry, then rather closed in the middle, without the concentration or ripeness-not to mention sweetness and personality-of many of the other 2003s from this producer. Finishes with a touch of dryness.
Racy fruit dominates, though the finish is very dry (versus sweet). Fresh cherry flavours. Lively, but not obviously grand cru quality. A bit disjointed. (JR)
