Dark crimson. Jewelly fruit but not quite enough sweetness. A bit brutal. Rather bruised, stewed fruit. Rustic. (JR)

Deep ruby-red. Brooding aromas of medicinal black cherry, licorice and dusty spices. Wonderfully sweet and supple for young Clos Vougeot, with powerful black fruit flavors enlivened by violet. Quite racy and energetic in the middle for all its creaminess. Finishes with big, broad, fine-grained tannins and superb persistence. Boillot has owned these vines in Le Grand Maupertuis (planted in 1976 and 1952) since 2008.
