Punteggio 93+/100 · Josh Raynolds, Nov 2010

(raised in 200% new French oak for 18 months) Inky purple. A drop-dead, seductive bouquet exudes raspberry, cherry liqueur, potpourri and vanillin oak spice, with a strong mineral undercurrent. Dense and tightly wound, offering broad dark fruit flavors that show a porty element but betray no heat. Shows a decadent character while retaining vivacity, finishing with outstanding length and lingering notes of cassis and licorice. This really deserves some patience. The vines were reportedly planted in 1926.

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2016-2037, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Jun 2010

The 2007 Malleolus de Valderramiro is a glass-coating opaque purple. It showcases a superb, sexy bouquet of sandalwood, graphite, Asian spices, incense, black cherry, and blackberry that leaps from the glass. Opulent, already complex with more to come, and super-long in the finish, it offers a drinking window extending from 2016 to 2037. Emilio Moro’s Malleolus de Valderramiro is sourced from an 85-year-old Tempranillo vineyard of the same name. Alcoholic fermentation is done with native yeasts after which the wine goes through malolactic in American oak. It is then aged for 18 months in new French oak.
