2007 Nuits St Georges Clos de la Marechale

Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. I remember the 2007 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale showing gloriously in its youth but like so many, it appears to have peaked early. Here, it has lilting red cherry and strawberry fruit on the nose, nicely defined if not the most complex on the block. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannin like the Clos des Forêts from Domaine de l'Arlot; conservative and masculine with orange rind and black pepper towards the austere finish. Drink soon. Tasted November 2016.

Tasted blind. Bright ruby. Light nose with a certain stony quality. Good raciness, very complete and with a good fruit/freshness balance. Not the most intense but very pretty. (JR)

Magnum. Assertive bitter cherry flavours and at a most attractive stage in its evolution. Fruity, not the most intense wine but with the tannins well in retreat. Caresses the palate. Medium weight. (JR)
