One of the few wines in the vintage that exude fruit and charm, the 2008 Le Bon Pasteur is medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, and rich, with a gorgeous perfume of black cherries, blackcurrants, licorice, and sappy herbs. A fun, satisfying, sumptuous Pomerol, drink it any time over the coming decade or so.

The 2008 Bon Pasteur has a fragrant bouquet: blackberry and briary, a touch of black truffle, not intense but developing a subtle floral tincture. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, good acidity and quite fresh in the mouth with a brisk, structured finish that would benefit from another couple of years in bottle. Michel and Dany Rolland produced an admirable Pomerol this vintage and the craftsmanship is beginning to show through more than the hedonism. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting.
Tasted blind. Broad, mellow nose and then quite marked acidity on the palate. But some pleasure and not as drying on the finish as the average St-Émilion. (JR)

Famed winemaking consultant Michel Rolland is synonymous with this estate. The vines here were purchased by his grandparents and he ran the property from 1979. Although Rolland still makes the wine today, he sold the estate in 2013.
