Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2014-2040, Jancis Robinson MW, Mar 2020

Magnum. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, remainder: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. With dried and even candied violets on the nose, the palate of the 2005 is decidedly savoury. Tomato leaf and tobacco, spiced cedar and sour plum carry the palate. The tannin is abundant while approachable, wed to abundant fresh acidity making a wine that's ready to drink now. There is a bit less palate density to this vintage, but it is deliciously harmonious. Although ready, there’s plenty of time left for further bottle ageing. (ECB)

Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2011-2026, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2019

Cooler, late vintage began 30 September. Deep garnet. Real evolution on the nose. Comforting and rich leaf-mould nose and lovely, fresh and dense. A little dry on the end. Composed and good freshness. Lightly dusty end is a tad sudden. Hint of cough medicine. (JR)

Punteggio 18/20 · Da bere 2019-2034, Tom Parker MW, jancisrobinson.com, Sep 2019

Founded 1984; first commercial vintage 1990. Deep ruby. Slightly dried blackcurrant, dried leaves and a touch of leather on the nose. Intense and still showing plenty of youthful exuberance. Chalky and layered on the palate, the structure builds in tandem with the fruit. Texturally intriguing. The savoury maturity adds complexity and tames the sweeter cassis fruit in this wine. Excellent balance. Long, sappy and smoky on the finish. (TP)
