The 1992 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru from de Vogüé is probably just past its drinking peak. Showing modest aging on the rim, it has a slightly herbaceous nose, sage and tertiary aromas infusing the black and red fruit, rapidly turning ferrous in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with an undertow of greenness indicative of the vintages; but this being Bonnes-Mares, there remains a sense of volume in the mouth. It's no shrinking violet, but it cannot shrug off the deficiencies of that growing season. Still, it does offer drinking pleasure - just don't put your expectations too high. Tasted November 2015.

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is one of Burgundy’s most revered domaines, defined by its historic stewardship of Musigny and its refined, age-worthy Chambolle-Musigny. Its wines are benchmarks for collectors seeking grand cru pedigree over power.
