Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2015-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Sep 2018

It's my opinion that the 2010 Les Amis is in a developmental trough at the moment, as it just wasn't quite as expressive and flamboyant as either the 2009 or recent vintages, despite being a terrific year. It's full-bodied, ripe and silky in texture, with gorgeous floral aromatics, raspberry fruit and hints of vanilla and cedar lurking in the background. Still youthful, it should drink well through 2030 if properly cellared.

The 2010 Les Amis is akin to a vinous BFF. At 16% it weighs in heavy on the alcohol but the wine oozes charm and appeal. Rich dark plums, kirsch, chocolate and vanillin. There\'s a wealth of ripeness here, Californian dates and oily nuances. The palate delivers density with impressive resolve. It builds and bubbles with luxurious ripe-fruit flesh and flavors. Tannins fold in waves and it finishes with mocha and lingering blood plums. Drink now.

Saturated ruby. Heady aromas of red fruit preserves, Asian spices and incense, with smoke and mineral accents that express themselves powerfully with aeration. Rich, palate-staining and impressively concentrated but shockingly lithe, offering sweet black raspberry, cherry-cola and lavender pastille flavors that take on weight in the glass. Closes with excellent focus and thrust, with supple tannins shaping the almost decadent red berry and floral pastille notes.

Medium deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Les Amis displays gorgeous kirsch and raspberry compote notes accented by potpourri and roses, baking spices, cloves and some meatiness with pepper. Ripe and rich, medium-firm, silky tannins frame a concentrated and layered palate through a long and refreshing finish. Seductive in its youth, it should drink best from 2014 to 2024+.
