Bright crimson. Very firm and lively. Lots of gas but really focused and lively and with lots of purity and fun. Lots of energy. Deep soils. (JR)
(from vines planted in 1963) Good deep red. Complex nose combines spicy oak, smoke, flowers, blood orange and leather, plus a suggestion of white fruits. Juicy, intense and energetic, with a firm stony underpinning giving tension to the mid-palate. Still a bit of a dip in the middle, but should be filled in with more time in barrel. This used to be a round style of wine, noted Liger-Belair, but now the vines' roots penetrate the calcaire that lies a foot or so beneath the clay layer.
