Tasted at the André Lurton tasting in London. The 1998 La Louviere Blanc, which would have been aged in one-third new oak and here was poured from magnum, has a clean and fresh bouquet, tightly wound with light melted wax aromas and just a touch of reduction that blows away quickly. There is just a touch of star anise that develops with time. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity and fine definition with notes of dried honey and a touch of spice, leading to resinous notes toward the finish. This continues to drink well after almost twenty years. Tasted June 2017.

Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
