Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2008-2020, Robert Parker, Apr 2006

A deep ruby/plum color is accompanied by sweet/smoky herb aromas intermixed with notes of incense, black cherries, and earth. Medium to full-bodied and ripe with moderately astringent tannin, this 2003 requires 2-3 years of cellaring and should drink well over the following 10-12.

Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2007-2015, Jancis Robinson MW, Apr 2005

Two very different notes. 1. Rather fine and restrained and appetising. A complete contrast to La Clotte, tasted immediately before this. Lively but flattering. Not a bad rendition at all. Very long. 2. Dark, fizzy, odd: 14. Perhaps the second bottle was out of condition. (JR)

Dark red. Black and red cherry, licorice and herbs on the slightly medicinal nose; began a bit green but grew fruitier as it opened in the glass. Leanish but intense, with black fruit, licorice and mint flavors. This could use more stuffing, but seemed to grow sweeter with aeration. A bit hard-edged and herbal on the end, but fresh.

Aromas of raspberry jam and light smoke. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long vanilla, chocolate and berry aftertaste. Lots of fruit in this one. Best after 2009. 3,580 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2006.
