Deep crimson. Lively, slightly dusty red and dark fruit with a touch of white pepper. There's a hint of leafy freshness and dry, powdery fine tannins. Fresh and mouthwatering, not a great deal of flesh but it's balanced in a restrained style that suits the vintage. (JH)
Well-extracted black berry fruits, good structure and a smooth richness for Listrac with firm tannins for the future. Drink 2015-2022. Decanter.com
The Fonreaud demonstrates fine fruit concentration on the nose with pretty strawberry and raspberry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a little oaky perhaps but there should be just enough fruit to support it through its élevage. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com

Situated at the highest point in the Médoc (at a huge 43 metres above sea-level), this estate is thought to be named after a spring on the site, from which Henry II supposedly drank (a “royal fountain”).
