Black. Apparently well sourced, and certainly makes 2011 look a bit ridiculously priced. But it’s a bit stinky on the nose – the brett police would certainly disapprove. Fruit rather hard on the finish. A second bottle was better but this should be restricted to those without a scientific oenological education! (JR)

Open, expressive, liquorice and leather on the nose and palate. Chunky structure with lengthy finish and a touch of the medicinal about it. Fine, expressive maturity. (RH)
