A sleeper of the vintage, this is a serious wine offering up oodles of licorice, incense, black currants and Christmas fruitcake notes in a medium to full-bodied, attractive, spicy style. Dark ruby/purple, this well-made wine should be drunk over the next decade or more.

Ripe and rounded. Lovely richness, with the oak only just noticeable. Finishes very tannic – but it feels right that way. Pepper spice. (RH)
