Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2014-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2014

The 2004 Rayne-Vigneau has a refined bouquet that takes time to unfold – hints of butterscotch and creme fraiche, Japanese plum, orange rind and that tincture of mushroom. There is something a little pinched here, as if it does not want to give everything away (at least at this point in time.) The palate has a saline touch on the entry, a fine line of acidity with a delicate spicy, quince-infused finish. This is very approachable and should drink nicely over the next 10 years. Drink now-2024. Tasted February 2014.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2013-2025, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2013

Comparing the 2004 with the 2003, there is clearly more vigor and delineation on the nose with delightful fresh scents of yellow plum, dried honey and just a faint hint of wild mushroom. The palate is very well-balanced with crisp acidity that lends it tension and race. The botrytis levels are commendable here with attractive quince and dried orange peel toward the composed finish. Excellent. Drink now-2025. Tasted April 2013.

Tangy aniseed and ripe pear flavours. Interesting! Good wine though still a little chewy. (JR)
