40% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot. The early-drinking second wine of Ch Figeac, successor to La Grange Neuve de Figeac – not made of leftovers, I was assured. Quite deep crimson with admirable energy. Fresh, round and lively with notable acidity and smooth tannins. (JR)

The 2012 Petit-Figeac is everything its name says it is. Wonderfully perfumed and expressive. The 2012 is supple, precise and beautifully delineated from start to finish. Silky tannins and a mid-weight sense of structure give the 2012 its classic feel. Scents of lavender, mint and white flower add an attractive aromatic top register. The Petit-Figeac is one of the hidden gems. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Sitting on the border with Pomerol, Ch. Figeac is a distinguished Saint-Emilion estate that produces some of the region's most sought-after wines. As of 2022, it is officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A, one of the appellation's top estates along with Ch. Pavie.
