There was a definite floral hint on this nose. There is very good balance here and much less astringency than has been seen elsewhere. Saying that, this wine is not complex but tropical citrus fruit, stone fruits and some blossom nicely balance out with freshness from the acidity and have good length.

Pale to medium lemon-gold in color, the 2010 Lamothe-Guignard bursts from the glass with honey-drizzled peaches, spiced pears and preserved kumquats plus nuances of lemonade, musk perfume and acacia honey. On the palate, it delivers intense stone fruit preserves and citrus layers with a wicked backbone of freshness and plenty of botrytized layers on the finish.
Tasted blind. Slightly deeper gold than the Bastor-Lamontagne. Bitter orange but still slightly floral. Marmalade richness. Broad, fat and spicy and the spice is the freshness. Unctuous and deep and long. Powerful and still fresh. Bitter-orange aftertaste. (JH)
