Ex-chateau bottle tasted blind in Sauternes. Refulgent gold in color, the Lamothe Guignard ‘03 has a rich, decadent bouquet with candied orange peel, quince and walnut, although there is a hint of volatility. The palate is Aszu-like on the entry with good acidity, plenty of Clementine and apricot fruit with a hint of toffee on the finish. This seems fully mature. Drink now-2017+ Tasted April 2013.

Yellow-gold. Slightly blurry aromas of mirabelle and menthol. Juicy but at the same time a bit warm in the mouth and on the finish, with a metallic aspect to its fruit. Not bad, but I found much more sappiness of extract and persistence a year ago from the barrel.
Medium yellow. Candied pineapple on the nose. Sweet, fat and bright; a bit candied but pure and penetrating. Not showing a lot of complexity today, but this wine boasts sound acidity, a sappy impression of extract and very good length.
Mid gold. Fresh, appetising botrytis nose with a little sweet almond character. Very zappy. Not the most complex but beautifully attractive already with great balance of elements. Very well made. Great expression of the vintage. Not enormous but very pleasing. Great drink. (JR)
