The 2002 Clos Fourtet was picked from October 2-15 at 34 hl/ha. It has a light, agreeable, cedar-scented nose with just a tinge of greenness around the edges. It comes across a little ephemeral as tobacco/humidor scents emerge and take the steering wheel. The palate is medium-bodied with a peppery entry and moderate weight. though the finish feels a little austere, especially juxtaposed against other vintages. This should be consumed in the near future. Tasted at the Clos Fourtet vertical in April 2023.

Sappy, lively, zappy exciting wine! There’s a beginning, middle and end to this wine. I would happily drink this now. Sweetness but not speciousness. (JR)

The Cuvelier family took over Clos Fourtet in 2001 and modernised the estate – renovating the winery and undertaking significant replanting. Its 18.5 hectares sit on the limestone plateau.
