1928 Cheval Blanc

Château bottled. Slightly cloudy brownish ruby (but then it had been brought that evening from another address). A wonderfully intense nose with fruit that was still evident and had obviously been very ripe. Very rich and long. It was so rich it was almost like a very old Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Very obviously right bank. Sweet yet appetising and still stuffed full of energy. This wine, brought by a generous guest, trumped the others supplied by our host. (JR)
