Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2007 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a light and airy bouquet that, if I am being honest, does not quite deliver the complexity of some of Louis-Michel fellow 2007 premier crus. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, not as cohesive as the Vosne-Romanée premier crus with a little harshness on the finish. Tasted June 2015.

Good medium red. Subtly complex nose offers cherry, raspberry and minerals. Delivers the sweet fruit of 2007 in spades, with a slightly high-toned quality that adds to its sex appeal (all these 2007s have volatile acidity levels around 0.6, according to Liger-Belair, which helps to explain their expressiveness.) Fat and sexy wine, with a complicating saline nuance. Finishes with sweet tannins and superb length.
Medium red. Redcurrant, smoke, tobacco and earth tones on the nose; this needs a racking. Velvety and broad, with saline, smoke and mocha flavors to go with the red fruits. Lower-pitched than the Reignots but has plenty of stuffing. Finishes with very fine tannins and impressive lingering sweetness.
Quite earthy on the nose – intense. Very sumptuous crackling fruit.. Still lots of (very fine) tannin. Should continue on its merry way to gain stature and complexity. Lovely life to this wine. As well as intensity. (JR)
