1999 Echezeaux

(fut E03) Saturated red-ruby. Noble, compelling, superripe aromas of black raspberry, meat, mocha, flowers, white pepper and bitter chocolate. A powerful, muscular style, with a saline impression of extract and tangy fruit and mineral flavors. Quite fine and restrained, but, as with Bizot other '99s, the combination of oaky torrefaction and Bizot's practice of vinifying with the stems has the effect at present of slightly drying the finish. But this is a highly promising set of '99s.
